ABOUT: From an early age, Chef Woods developed an insatiable curiosity for the art of cooking, drawing inspiration from his grandmother's kitchen, where Sylvia's Restaurant was born. He spent countless hours observing and learning, immersing himself in the culinary traditions that made Sylvia's a household name. Chef Marcus's culinary journey took him on a path of exploration and refinement. He spent his time honing his skills and absorbing diverse culinary influences while always holding true to the soulful roots instilled by his family. 

After graduating from ICC and spending time working in Red Rooster Harlem, Chef Marcus returned to Sylvia's Restaurant, bringing a fresh perspective and innovative flair to the beloved institution. He assumed the role of executive chef, breathing new life into timeless classics, all while preserving the cherished recipes and techniques passed down through generations.

 

WHAT: Woods, grandson of legendary chef Sylvia Woods, carries on the traditions and iconic dishes of this soul-food institution in Harlem since 1962.
