ABOUT: A native of Auvergne, France, Tourondel is one of the most influential figures in modern American dining, with a career spanning more than four decades across Europe, Asia, and the United States. Trained in fine-dining kitchens under legendary chefs including Jacques Maximin and the Troisgros family, Tourondel built his foundation in classical French technique before bringing his talent to cities from Hong Kong and London to Moscow and New York.

His early success culminated in major accolades such as Food & Wine’s 10 Best New Chefs and Bon Appétit’s Restaurateur of the Year, establishing him as a chef with both critical acclaim and global reach.

After the sudden closure of his three-star restaurant Cello in 2002, Tourondel pivoted toward a more accessible, guest-driven vision of dining—one that would ultimately redefine his legacy. In 2004, he launched the groundbreaking BLT brand, earning multiple two- and three-star New York Times reviews and a Michelin star for BLT Fish, while building a portfolio of beloved concepts including L’Amico, LT Burger, Sag Pizza, Skirt Steak, and Dune by Laurent Tourondel. Today, Tourondel continues to innovate across restaurants, event spaces, and hospitality concepts, guided by a philosophy centered on exceptional ingredients, precise technique, and restaurants designed to feel as good as the food tastes.
