WHO: Carla Garcia is chef de cuisine at JoJo, Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s first restaurant.
ABOUT: Born in Mexico, Garcia traveled extensively to follow her passion for cooking. During culinary school, she persued externships in France and Spain. After graduating, she worked in Abu Dhabi at a Japanese restaurant, then moved to New York to cook at Chef Jean Georges Vongerichten's first restaurant JoJo. After a year she transitioned to the flagship Jean-Georges Restaurant and Nougatine, where she was promoted to executive sous chef. One year ago, she was asked by Chef Jean Georges to go back to JoJo to be the chef de cuisine, where her adventure started. In 2024, she went to Paris representing the USA at the 57th Ars Nova Culinary competition, and took an impressive 4th place internationally.
