WHO: Chef-restaurateur Joey Baldino known for his deeply traditional Italian cooking, owns Zeppoli in Collingswood, New Jersey, and Palizzi Social Club in South Philadelphia.
ABOUT: Baldino is an eight-time James Beard Award semifinalist, and, in 2017, Bon Appetit ranked Palizzi Social Club the #4 restaurant in the United States. He honed his skills at Vetri Cucina and Osteria, apprenticed with Alice Waters at Chez Panisse, worked at Ana Tasca Lanza’s farm in Sicily, and cooked at Daniel. Baldino has a lifetime of experience working in Italian restaurants; his grandparents ran an eatery in Philly, too. He runs Palizzi Social Club, which opened in 1918, and has been a James Beard Award semifinalist an amazing eight times.
