
Claude Godard, Roger Dagorn & Pamela Wittmann - Beaujolais Wines

ABOUT: Dagorn is a Grand Conseiller of the Compagnon de Beaujolais Devoir de New York. He is one of only 293 members of The Court of Master Sommeliers, as well as one of a small number of non-Japanese to be given the prestigious title of Sake Samurai. Recently, he retired from City Tech (CUNY), where he was an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Wine for 22 years. Currently, Roger is wine director at The River Café in Brooklyn, which holds the Best of Award of Excellence from the Wine Spectator. He has worked in several notable New York restaurants such as The Parker Meridien—Maurice, Tse Yang, Chanterelle, Porter House, and Tocqueville.
Godard has worked with some of Paris’ most renowned chefs, including Alain Dutournier and Jean-Pierre Vigato, and in some of Paris’ most renowned restaurants, including Lasserre — and in Burgundy alongside his father in their Michelin star-rated family restaurant, Restaurant Godard. In 2003, he joined the Maitres Cuisiniers de France, and in 2010 he opened up Jeanne & Gaston in New York (named “Best French Bistro” by Zagat).
“After becoming the first woman enologist to assist in blending Champagne cuvées at the Mumm cellars, Wittmann was promoted by Seagram to become Champagne Perrier-Jouët’s North America Export Manager encompassing the entire United States as well as Canada. In 2001, she founded her own agency — Millissime PR & Marketing Services — with clients initially from Champagne, Beaujolais, Bordeaux and the South of France and then from Chile, Argentina, Italy, Spain, California and Australia. She has been tapped by several organizations for public training sessions and seminars, most notably with the esteemed American Wine Society. She took over the Presidency of the Ordre des Compagnons du Beaujolais, Devoir de New York last Fall. Her efforts were recognized by the French government as she received the coveted title of “Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole” in September 2020.”
WHAT: Join us for an exploration of the region of Beaujolais through its wines and food specialties, presented by the Compagnons du Beaujolais. We will taste through many local appellations and crus du Beaujolais and delicious Lyonnais dishes.
