ABOUT: Les Dames d’Escoffier New York comprises some of the most influential and accomplished women in the food, fine beverage, and hospitality world. In the first ever published Les Dames New York Cookbook: Stirring the Pot (The History Press, American Palate), they share their favorite recipes from simple, everyday meals to spectacular party dishes. Authors, Dames Sylvia Baldini and Sharon Franke, showcase 76 family recipes alongside wine pairings by Dame Pascaline Lepeltier, MOF, a dedication by Grande Dame Lidia Bastianich, and a foreword by Dame Carla Hall. Proceeds of all events organized by Les Dames NY support the LDNY Scholarship Fund, empowering young women entering the food, fine beverage, and hospitality fields.
Barbara Sibley opened the first of three La Palapa Cocina Mexicana restaurants in 2000. She is a past president of the New York Women’s Culinary Alliance and was awarded the Operator of the Year award from the Industry Excellence Awards presented by the Food and Restaurant Expo. La Palapa has been named the Gender Equity Restaurant of the Year by One Fair Wage and the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, and it was selected as a member of the James Beard Foundation Women Entrepreneurial Program. Sibley co-authored the cookbook, Antojitos: Festive and Flavorful Mexican Small Plates. In addition to operating three La Palapa restaurants, she is creative director of Holiday Cocktail Lounge. Sibley is honored to be the current President of Les Dames D’Escoffier.
Odila Galer-Noel is a seasoned public relations professional with extensive experience in the American and international wine and spirits market. Her passion for storytelling and crafting personalized and innovative campaigns for producers and importers has led her to establish long-term and privileged relationships with relevant media and the wine and spirits trade. An Argentine-born NYC resident, Odila enjoys traveling, discovering new and exciting dining spots and sipping a glass of wine with family and friends.
Chiara Carfi moved to NYC in 2001, kicking off her career in the food and wine industry by consulting on the internationalization of Italian products. Today, she leads external relations at Calvisius and Ars Italica.
Silvia Baldini is a best-selling author, a classically trained Italian-born chef, a Chopped champion on Food Network, and a culinary entrepreneur. She held positions at Michelin-starred kitchens, and she worked as a cook and a chef in London, New York, and Connecticut restaurants, including the Ritz and Ottolenghi. Silvia established the creative food group, Strawberry and Sage, and works with global food companies interested in thinking outside the box and developing AI, educational and culinary platforms. She is also the chef behind Grace Farms Foods’ socially conscious chocolate chip cookies. Her recipes have been published in Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and La Cucina Italiana. Her recent cookbook Les Dames d’Escoffier New York Cookbook: Stirring the Pot features 76 family recipes from the most accomplished women in the culinary world.
Tara Bench has over 25 years in the food publishing industry creating original recipes, and food styling for magazines, books, television, and food brands. Before starting her blog, TaraTeaspoon.com, she was the Food Director of Ladies’ Home Journal magazine, and Food Editor at Martha Stewart Living, Kids and Weddings magazines. She has appeared on the Martha Stewart Living show, The Today Show, The Drew Barrymore Show, Fox & Friends, KSL Studio 5, and on The Food Network as a contestant and judge. Her recipes and beautiful food have graced the pages of Food and Wine, People, Good Housekeeping, Food Network Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, Oprah, Every Day with Rachael Ray, and Real Simple. She has also published two cookbooks.
Susan Kostrzewa is the former editor-in-chief of Wine Enthusiast Media. She has co-authored numerous books on wine, food and travel, including Opus Vino, 1,000 Everyday Wines, The Wine Enthusiast Wine & Food Pairings Book and The Footsteps of Fame Literary Travel series. She is a Dame Chevalier de Coteaux de Champagne, a member of Les Dames D’Escoffier, a regular panelist and moderator (and former advisory board member) of the Meadowood Symposium for Wine Writers and a former Ellies Awards judge for the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME). She founded Resplendent Ink — a content strategy consultancy specializing in wine, food and adjacent cultural lifestyle communications — in 2022.
