WHO: Anton's Chef-Owner Nick Anderer and Beverage Director Natalie Johnson.
ABOUT: Anderer grew up on the upper west side of Manhattan and began working in top kitchens including the Water Club, An American Place, Rose Hill, Manhattan Prime, Tabla, Babbo, and Gramercy Tavern. He then went on to open two Italian restaurants as the executive chef and managing partner: Maialino in 2009 and Marta in 2014. He and his wife Natalie Johnson opened Anton’s as a nostalgic New York Café & Wine Bar celebrating the rich culinary history of his hometown. He's been nominated several times as a James Beard “Best Chef: New York City” and has appeared on the Martha Stewart Show, CBS This Morning, The Dish, Food Network’s Chopped, and Vice Network’s Action Bronson Show.
Prior to opening Anton’s, Johnson served as the beverage director of Loring Place, a beloved West Village restaurant from chef Dan Kluger She previously worked as a sommelier and captain in several acclaimed restaurants with celebrated wine programs across the country, including Otto, Marta, and Frasca (Boulder, CO). It was during her time at Union Square Hospitality Group’s Marta that Anderer and Johnson first collaborated.
The two are poised to open a new restaurant, projected for the fall of 2023, which will focus on Italian seafood.
WHAT: The pair will demonstrate how Anton's reimagines old New York through comforting, eclectic American cuisine with deep European influences.
