WHO: Mesiba Executive Chef Eli (Buli) Buliskeria and Lior Lev Sercarz
ABOUT: Eli (Buli) Buliskeria was born in the country of Georgia and emigrated to Holon, Israel at age 2. He's worked for some of Israel's top restaurants, including chef Yonatan Roshfeld at Herbert Samuel in Tel Aviv. In 2017, he took his talent to New York City and led the kitchen at Manhattan's Bustan on the Upper West Side. As the executive chef at Williamsburg's newest Tel Aviv-inspired restaurant Mesiba — at the Moxy Hotel — he designed the menu around the ingredients and flavors he grew up with in Israel with a focus on the sustainable, rich and local produce of New York.
Lior Lev Sercarz has been making his signature spice blends under the La Boîte brand since 2006. Sourcing from farmers and premium producers around the world, La Boîte’s unique, high-quality spice blends transform any dish from everyday into unforgettable. He has collaborated with culinary icons and artisans known as the “Spice Masters” to create unique spice blends and products, each telling its own story and designed to take the culinary experience to new heights of deliciousness. His cookbooks have been recognized as "best of the year" by The New York Times Book Review and Food & Wine. He is also the founder and owner of Spice Brothers, a high-quality, fast-casual shawarma restaurant, set to open in Fall, 2023 on St. Marks Place in Manhattan’s East Village.
